Love, Henry

La Jolla, CA

Set high above the Pacific, this historic hillside home has views that honestly do most of the talking. Originally designed by Henry Hester, the house carries strong mid-century bones, and our approach was to honor that history while making it work for how people actually live—and entertain—today.

We opened up the layout to create better flow for gathering, while keeping the details that give the home its character. The original wood board walls were carefully removed, sandblasted, and restored to reveal their original stain, bringing warmth and authenticity back into the space. Natural, tactile materials ground the interiors and tie seamlessly to the landscape outside. With large windows framing ocean blues and surrounding greenery, the line between indoors and out all but disappears.
